Institute Presentation

General overview: A healthy population and excellence in healthcare through research and education – this is what Erasmus MC stands for. Conducting groundbreaking work, pushing boundaries and leading the way in research, education, and healthcare.

Department: The Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry/Psychology focuses on patient care, teaching and research activities to improve child and adolescent mental health. A key aim of the department is to study the frequency, determinants and course of child psychiatric disorders, using epidemiological methods in the general population, in populations at risk, and in clinical samples.

Van Haren lab

Lab: Integrated and Precision Neuroimaging group focuses on understanding neurodevelopment in the context of mental mental health, risk and resilience factors from a population neuroscience perspective.

Role in the FAMILY project: Co-leading WP2 on data management, harmonization, open science and infrastructure, and participating in WP5 on the role of neuroimaging metrics in the intergenerational transmission of mental illness

inDEPTH Lab

Department presentation and role in the FAMILY project

Lab: Our inDEPTH Lab focuses on cutting-edge, collaborative and interdisciplinary research at the interface of the biological and social sciences to shed light on developmental pathways leading to mental health and psychiatric risk.

Role in the FAMILY project: Leading WP4 on the role of epigenetics in the intergenerational transmission of mental illness

The Integrated and Precision Neuroimaging group

The Laboratory of neurobiological psychiatry

Department presentation and role in the FAMILY project

Lab: The laboratory of neurobiological psychiatry is focused on leveraging modern neuroscience approaches to elucidate the mechanistic cellular and molecular biology of etiological risk factors for psychiatric diseases and mental health.

Role in the FAMILY project: Co-leading WP6 on the role of animal modelling to uncover molecular, cellular, and systems-level mechanisms to enhance understanding, and participating in WP7 on causal and predictive modeling.

Cohort leader

Department presentation and role in the FAMILY project

Lab: We investigate the development of psychopathology in high risk populations, e.g. familial high risk and somatic high risk, by deep phenotyping using behavioural measures and innovative tools.

Role in the FAMILY project: Cohort leader from the Rotterdam familial high-risk cohorts (MARIO, BRIDGE, KBO)
